Best Lunch Spots in Amsterdam

I am not a big fan of biking, read 'why I am a fake and how it benefits you'. Therefor, I rank the Amsterdam restaurants in terms of how far I would peddle to get to the place.
There are 3 categories:
3 bikes - restaurants that are worth a 15 minutes' bike ride
2 bikes - restaurants that are worth a 10 minutes' bike ride
1 bike - places that are worth visiting if you are nearby.

restaurants that are worth a 15 - 20 minutes’ ride

Restaurant Open, Amsterdam.Restaurant Open
Stunning location & views. Absolutely frill-free and all focused at serving freshly prepared beautiful dishes for lunch and dinner. French & Italian menu.

Bistrot Neuf
Classic French dishes served without frills, extensive wine list (by the glass) and overall good price quality ratio.

Restaurant Geisha
Stylish and modern Asian-fusion restaurant serving the best dim sum in town.

Italian trattoria that treats Amsterdam to Italian food and culture.

Rest. Yamazato, Amsterdam.Yamazato
Yamazato excells in both service and Japanese culinary art. It is the best Japanese restaurant in Europe.

Classic Italian restaurant with the best Italian wine list and superb Italian food.

Underground cool restaurant build from sea containers located on a former wharf. Surprisingly good food.

Restaurant De Belhamel, Amsterdam.De Belhamel
Great location and the interior - very stylishly Amsterdam. Intimate and romantic ambiance, yet also suitable for a business lunch. French menu.

Pont 13
Former ferry boat turned into excellent informal restaurant.

REM eiland
Former pirate radio station turned into restaurant - very unique seafood restaurant with superb views.

restaurants that are worth a 10 -15 minutes’ ride

Lunch restaurant Blue 360, Amsterdam.Blue 360
Bread, salads & bird’s view of the city centre - one of the best lunch places in town.

Restaurant Brix
Modern, trendy yet non-snobby and welcoming restaurant. It’s tranquil for lunch during the week, yet it’s a popular hang out after office hours.

De Ysbreeker
An all-day local meetup place: from breakfast till late-night drinking. International menu & good wines.

Fresh, simple & friendly.

Restaurant Jacques Jour, Amsterdam.Jacques Jour
breakfast, brunch and lunchroom in Noord.

Pata Negra II
Large terrace, real Spanish tapas food and great Sangria! Open from early morning till late.

Fa Pekelhaaring
Rustic Italian pasta and other dishes, kind service, spacious & light.

De Ysbreeker
An all-day local meetup place: from breakfast till late-night drinking. International menu & good wines.

Restaurant Moes, Amsterdam.Moes
Honest food and service, trendy in a green & organic way.

French brasserie on tranquil Jordanese canal, quality food (no sandwiches), rapid service.

Lunchcafe Nielsen
Serves the best club sandwich in Amsterdam. My favourite place in the 9 little streets area.

One of those relaxed local meet up spots that opens in the late morning and closes late at night.

Lunch room A Table, Amsterdam.A table
A Table is a cute little breakfast and lunchroom run by charming young French lady.

Thai Food: The Bird
The Bird is a terrific Thai Snackbar. The restaurant across is only open for dinner. Yet at the snackbar you can get the best Pad Thai in town as of noon.

Fresh and wholesome ingredients served in gigantic portions. Happy-spirited staff.

Caffe Milo open from dusk till dawnIzakaya
Modern and trendy Japanese bar where (bar) food is served. The menu is elaborate enough to choose a decent lunch / dinner. Pricey.

Van Harte
Homey and funky interior, serves ‘the usual suspects’ for lunch.

Caffe Milo
Large terrace, chef that pimps classic dishes, reading table, free wifi... ah just read the review!

restaurants that are worth a 5 minutes’ ride

2 course Italian menu served within an hour. Modern design interior.

Friendly service and a fine spot to have a quick Asian lunch.

A popular large business meet up place serving OK food.

A quick hazzle-free lunch of warm noodles. Yum.

A garage-like restaurant specialized in meatballs.

Sugarless by J&J
Guilt-free indulgence in cakes and muffins! A wonderful girly place for BFF’s.

No name bar, aka wolvenstraat 23
I’m not a fan of this bar, because of terribly slow service. Locals love it.

Buffet van Odette
A girlfriends’ meet up place on the canals.

Whatever can be organic, is organic at Greenwoods. Laid back ambiance.

Bar Moustache
Had one great experience and a hugely disappointing one. Don’t think I’ll come back here.

Bar Restaurant Barça
Sandwiches and salads with a Mediterranean touch. Has got a great (heated) terrace.

Mediterranean sandwiches, soups and delicacies available in the shop downstairs.

Chocolate Bar
Former hotspot for lunch, dinner and drinks. It’s still pretty popular amongst locals.

Bakken met Passie
Lunch room of a bakery: lovely sandwiches and cakes.

Amsterdam brown bar where simple lunch dishes and dinners are served.

Pancakes! Amsterdam
Cute little place serving Dutch and more exotic pancakes!

Casual local meet up place - quite busy during lunch time and thankfully the food is served superfast.

Brasserie Baton
Great lunch place in summer time with its terrace fabulously located along the Herengracht.

Bazaar Amsterdam
Enjoy mezze in a place that feels like an Arabic zouk.

Enjoy Irish Pub food in an Irish pub.

Gebroeders Niemeyer bakery with a lunch room

Vlaamsch Broodhuys bakery with a lunch room

Alchemist garden
Amsterdam’s first and only raw food bar. In this ‘conscious’ shop there are 8 tables where you can be introduced to the raw foodism.

Burger Bar
Excellent hamburger joint serving beef burgers, Wagyu beef and Black Angus.

Hamburger places serving regular and exotic version of the popular sandwich.

Sunny’s burger joint
Misleadingly located in a tourist-trap area, Sunny’s serves superb hamburgers. I love the original sauce which has a spicy bite to it.

Oyster club Amsterdam
Not my kind of place: it’s to see and be seen. I rather sit inside at the windows looking into the former Olympic stadium. That view is pretty special.

Seafood bar
I love the concept but the execution…. *deep sigh* I advice sticking to ‘fish and chips’ or a sandwich.

New King
My favourite Chinese eatery in China Town. Unfortunately, it has got popular and prices have increased accordingly.

Lovely list of restaurants! Is there a place in Amsterdam which serve Filipino or any Asian cuisine?

I used to live around the corner from Hoofddorpplein and what a wonderful little hidden gem. Zuiderschinkel was our go-to local spot within a few months of its opening. Great food and wine in a relaxed neighbourhood environment. The burgers are pretty good too. Another plus point is that they are open 7 days a week, making it a perfect Sunday afternoon borrel spot.
